◆「ゴスペル・イン・文楽」とは
イエス・キリストの⽣誕、最後の晩餐、⼗字架を文楽で描きます。イエス・キリストの物語を描いた『ゴスペル・イン・⽂楽』は、豊⽵若太夫⾃⾝が⼤病にかかった時、神癒の奇跡を体験したことがきっかけになり創作された、新作⽂楽です。当初から、鶴澤清友さんと豊松清⼗郎さんの協⼒の元、成⽴したものです。2000年の初演以来、全国で再演を重ね、好評を博してきました。
◆文楽とは
⽇本を代表する伝統芸能の⼀つ⼈形浄瑠璃「⽂楽」は、太夫・三味線・⼈形が⼀体となった総合芸術です。太夫の語りと三味線の義太夫節、三⼈で⼀体の⼈形を遣う⼈形遣いの技等、その優れた演劇性と⾳楽性が評価され、ユネスコの「無形⽂化遺産」にも選ばれています。

Gospel in Bunraku 〜 The Life of Christ Depicted Through Bunraku Puppetry
◆What is “Gospel in Bunraku”?
It uses Bunraku puppetry to depict the birth of Jesus Christ, the Last Supper and the Crucifixion. This new Bunraku work was created by Toyotake Wakatayu after he experienced a miracle of divine healing when he fell gravely ill. It was established through the collaboration of Tsurusawa Kiyotomo and Toyomatsu Seijirō from its inception. Since its premiere in 2000, it has been performed repeatedly nationwide to great acclaim.
◆What is Bunraku?
One of Japan’s most representative traditional performing arts, Bunraku is a comprehensive art form in which the narrator (Tayū), shamisen player, and puppeteers work together as a single entity. Its exceptional theatricality and musicality — including the narrator’s storytelling, the Gidayū-bushi shamisen accompaniment, and the puppeteers’ skill in manipulating the three-part puppets as a single entity – have earned it recognition as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
